CLYDE EDGERTON

Clyde Edgerton, raised in the community of Bethesda, near Durham, NC, has published ten novels, a book of advice, a memoir, short stories, and essays. Three of his novels have been made into movies: RANEY, WALKING ACROSS EGYPT, and KILLER DILLER. Edgerton’s short stories and essays have been published in Garden & Gun, New York Times Magazine, Oxford American, Southern Review, and other publications; his short-form work has been selected for inclusion in the Best American Short Stories series.

Edgerton is a musician and has performed with musicians including Jim Watson, Mike Craver, Jack King, and Matt Kendrick. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow, is a member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers, and runs the ongoing Underground Crosswords Project, which collects student work addressing race, slavery, and otherness, in aim to “launch conversations and/or courses sponsored by and inside of police departments, churches, hospitals, schools, community colleges, and universities.”

Edgerton is the Thomas S. Kenan III professor of Creative Writing at UNC Wilmington. He lives in Wilmington, NC, with his wife, Kristina, and their children.
